As a painter, Robert Marosi Bustamante is guided by the Jazz ethic of improvisation in exploring harmonies of color and composition, building up layers of texture and glazes. 

The pieces grow out of his interest in the figure as movement and characters transformed into archetypes, from ballplayers and farmers,   invoking nostalgia and hero worship, to a series of Madonnas as divine beings.
